25 Jun The Most Interesting Markets In Madrid
One of the most interesting activities to do in Madrid during your trip is visiting the various markets in the city. Here we leave you some recommendations for your stay.
El Rastro: From 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, every Sunday, in the Ribera de Curtidores (La Latina), very close to the center of Madrid, you can find an eclectic mix of stalls offering everything from clothing and antiques to books, music, furniture, and jewelry. You will probably discover some special souvenirs to take home. Don’t miss the chance to experience some of the city’s iconic bars and enjoy a traditional “tosta del Rastro” (Rastro toast).
Mercado de Motores: Every second weekend of the month (except August) from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, you can visit the Railway Museum Market. Surrounded by historic trains, you’ll find numerous booths offering art, gastronomy, fashion, and more. Don’t forget to explore the food trucks outside, which serve a variety of classic dishes, and enjoy the live music that’s always playing.
Mercadillo Cuesta Moyano: For book lovers, this flea market is a must-visit. Open daily from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm and from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Taking a walk to the Retiro Park, you’ll find a wonderful selection of both contemporary and antique books at affordable prices. It’s a perfect spot to discover your next great read. Mercado de las Ranas: Every first and third Saturday of the month, in the Barrio de las Letras, one of the most emblematic areas of Madrid, local shops bring their products outside, creating a diverse flea market similar to London’s Portobello Road. Here, you can discover fashion, art, and home decor, while nearby bars and restaurants offer special discounts and menus to enhance your culinary experience.
